This patented process generates hydrophone, vertical geophone, upgoing and downgoing wavefields. Special techniques significantly suppress V(z) noise on the vertical geophone while correcting for obliquity and coupling.
Forming an accurate picture of the earth’s reflectivity requires a common source signature for every angle and azimuth in every shot of a survey. Deepwater nodes provide a near-perfect representation of the source wavefield at all angles and azimuths. Using a patented technique, Fairfield Geotechnologies forms a directional designature operator from the recorded source wavefield.
Wave-equation surface multiple attenuations (WEMA) is a model-driven technique that uses the earth as a model containing reflectors whose multiples must be attenuated. A measured wavefield is propagated from the surface to the target reflector(s) and back, using a finite-difference wave-equation modeling code. In this way, the primaries are converted into first-order multiples, first-order multiples into second, and so on. Modeled multiples are then adaptively subtracted.
Our meticulous attention to detail results in superior land seismic data. We have proprietary techniques and workflows for interpolation and regularization to surface-consistent processing. All compliant with quantitative interpretation (QI) for reliable reservoir characterization.
3D Survey Merging
Often, independently acquired 3D surveys—with varying acquisition geometries and orientation—may overlap. We have vast experience managing these issues of geometry, phase, noise, amplitude, refraction and residual statics. We can successfully merge surveys and output to a common grid, applying proprietary techniques to address offsets, folds, and amplitudes for AVO-compliant data.
Results of our approach are outstanding. We’ve already processed and merged nearly 10,000 square miles of land data in unconventional basins throughout the US. Our marine multi-client data is the industry's largest contiguous, shallow-water database.
